This morning I arose from bed to witness a strange, new world surrounding me that somewhat resembled the worlds in my storybooks. A long descending staircase waited at my feet, stained a bright red color with steps larger than I. I straddled the first step and slowly slid down, repeating the process until I reached the bottom. The world was queer; it seemed as if the walls were suspended in mid air. Bright lights blinded my weak eyes and the strange land seemed disorderly and chaotic. I followed a trial laid before me, which swiveled beneath my feet, leading to a ecstatic tea party with a hare and a ball with a prince to dance alongside. But my pace began to slow. My average feeling of limited mobility was becoming apparent. I wanted to cease my wanderings guided by the trail, but I knew I couldn't. I pondered about the home I went to sleep in last night and the nights before. It wasn't the only home I had, but I've been there for so long it's become home. The bright white walls, the clean white sheets and the repetitive melody of humming and beeping. I continued my journey despite the thoughts and I could hear mama and papa from somewhere not so distant. I peered around, but couldn't find the body's to match the voice. Then I hear a strange voice of a man accompanying them, saying words I couldn't understand. I could hear mama crying, I better get home to find what's making her sad. I began to feel homesick, so I ran. I ran as fast as my legs would carry. Running for home. Then a lady in a black robe stopped me in my quarry of the voices and reached out her hand.

"You're tired." She said "Rest and come with me." Her words flowed and were smooth like silk, but I couldn't go.

I turned my back and ran away; leaving the promise of recuperation form the unbearable pain I've contracted in my chest. Mama and papa are waiting, I need to get home.

I finally stumbled upon a long ascending staircase, stained a bright red color with steps larger than I. I straddled the first step and slowly climbed up, repeating the process until I reached the top. A door awaited me, my familiar door with my very own familiar numbers 101. I opened it to find my clean white bed with bright white walls surrounding my very own sanctuary and my very own lullaby composed of humming and beeps. I climbed into the heavy sheets of the bed that cradled me, thinking of mama and papa.

"I hope I can play here again" I thought as I plummeted into rest.
